Lately I’ve been staying late at work. And it’s been disturbingly frequent that I have to scamper out for a quick dinner before returning to work. But thanks to omy, there were strong enough reasons to grant myself one night off for an extended dinner, or what my students would call a nomnom session. (See! Somehow they just refuse to accept that we belong to the same generation!) I was amongst the privileged bloggers invited to a food tasting event at 313@sommerset. And boy was it an enjoyable one and here’s why.
Good food. Duh, do I need to elaborate more? Presenting our food marathon trail:
Stop 1: B3 Food Hall - salad and all salmon platter (Umisushi), chicken floss pancake rolls (Jollibean) and chicken wrap (The Flyin’ Bread).
Stop 2: Paradise Inn, an oriental themed restaurant with matching interior plus waiters/ waitresses decked in olden outfits – fragrant black soy fried rice, fried vermicelli, fried bee hoon with succulent prawns and stir-fried beef hor fun.
Stop 3: Malones, Irish Restaurant and Bar – Pizza!
Stop 4: Charlie Brown Café, the peanuts theme café – Honey chicken wings + colourful drinks with sparklers!
Stop 5: FoodRepublic – tom yam soup with olive fried rice + chicken rice set + wanton soup + tepanyaki set.
A proponent of the iPhone 4s camera, I decided to leave my camera at home. But I was immediately hit by pangs of regret when the other bloggers whipped out their powerful DSLRs and clicked away (like a pro) as the dishes were served. A slightly embarassed me would then gingerly pinch the humble iPhone from my pocket and tap away (hopefully looking like a pro too).
Apart from the sumptuous meals, the part that I enjoyed most was meeting a bunch of like-minded bloggers, interesting individuals with unique talents like singing, drawing, cooking, baking etc. I had a great time chatting with you guys!
Lastly, we were given the Dining Wallet! Not unlike the coach wallets going at amazing low prices at US factory outlets, this wallet is a steal. Selling for $19, it contains food vouchers that amount to more than $40. They can be used at any participating food outlets located in 313@Somerset till 31 August.
